Leeds United’s 4-0 win over Watford on Tuesday night has seen Daniel Farke’s men go five points clear of Sheffield in United and eight in front of Burnley, with those two sides playing on Wednesday night.
While Burnley and Sheffield United have a game in hand that arrives on Wednesday night, Leeds have taken another big step towards the Premier League. Daniel Farke’s men ticked off another big victory.
Adam Pope said before the game that Leeds needed eight wins or 24 points to secure a place in the top two and automatic promotion. Judging by that, Leeds now need seven wins from the remaining 14.
But Leeds look unstoppable at the moment and going into matches against Sunderland and Sheffield United, promotion looks very much on the cards. But, manager Farke remains tight-lipped on the subject.

Burnley host Hull and Sheffield United take on Middlesbrough at Bramall Lane on Wednesday night and while both sides will be expected to win, there’s still the chance of one of those sides dropping points.
But focusing on Leeds, Farke was asked about promotion after the 4-0 win over Watford and he said that Leeds had to keep on going – highlighting that if they fail to get any more points, Leeds don’t go up.
“If we stop winning points then we finish on 69 and don’t get promoted. If we enjoy ourselves too much… we have to stay on it. Can’t get too over-confident or lose you won’t win anything in this league.
“After 32 games we are not judged, but after 46 games. Confidence? The current form doesn’t change my attitude that I think the next game is easy. I’m more on it that everyone stays awake and is spot on.”
Tom Cleverley comments suggest Leeds will secure promotion
Under Marcelo Bielsa in 2019-20, Leeds had 56 points after 32 games. They sat in second before going on an unbelievable run that saw Bielsa’s Leeds finish on 93 points, obtaining 37 from their last 14 matches.
Comparing to now, Leeds are 13 points better off than Bielsa’s Leeds after 32 games during the year in which the Argentine guided Leeds to the League title. It is all positive for Leeds in the race to go up.
The next two games will determine whether it is the top two, or the play-offs. If Leeds can avoid defeat against Sunderland and then Sheffield United, it is looking good for Leeds but lose, and doubt creeps in.
