Aidy White has given his verdict on Leeds United defender Junior Firpo after watching him in action against Rotherham United at Elland Road.

The former Leeds player and BBC Radio Leeds pundit has been impressed by how Firpo has been playing for Daniel Farke’s side.

So, what has Aidy White said about Leeds United left-back Junior Firpo? Let’s take a look.

Leeds United left-back Junior Firpo impresses vs Rotherham United

Well, Leeds United beat Rotherham United 3-0 at Elland Road in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.

It was an easy win for Leeds, who have now emerged victorious in each of their last five league games.

Junior Firpo started for the Whites. Leeds head coach Daniel Farke deployed the £13 million (BBC Sport) former Barcelona player at left-back.

Firpo played well. The 27-year-old set up the opening goal for Patrick Bamford with a smart cross that Rotherham failed to deal with. He also created a very good chance for Crysencio Summerville in the second half.

The left-back played one key pass, had a pass accuracy of 75%, won one header, took 41 touches, and put in one cross.

The former Real Betis player has made six starts and five substitute appearances in the Championship for Leeds this season.

Praise for Junior Firpo

Former Leeds player Aidy White was following the match for BBC Radio Leeds, and he was impressed by how Firpo played and has praised the left-back for his recent performances.

White said about Firpo on BBC Radio Leeds: “He has come in for some stick from some people, but he has shown what he is about and how vital and what an asset he can be and has been for the five-six run of games that he has had.

“So, really fair play and credit where it is due. He has proved a lot of people wrong, and hopefully he can only improve.”

Meanwhile, Leeds head coach Farke has suggested that he would have preferred Summerville not to take Panenka penalty.

Leeds Live quotes Farke as saying: “I’m a bit more old fashioned – I would rather have the ball in the corner!”

Leeds are now third in the Championship table with 63 points from 31 matches. The West Yorkshire club are a point behind Southampton, who are second and have played 30 games.
