Daniel Farke has refused to comment on whether Leeds United will be making any signings imminently.
Farke was speaking to the local press, including Leeds Live, after the 2-0 defeat to Manchester United in Oslo, in what was his first game in charge.
Leeds were without a number of key players for their opening friendly of the summer, with Rasmus Kristensen and Rodrigo among them due to their imminent transfers away.
They are set to become first team exits number five and six following the departures of Robin Koch, Diego Llorente, Brenden Aaronson and Marc Roca.
Despite those departures, Leeds are yet to bring in any new signings so far in the transfer window, with Farke now having been at the helm for nine days now.
Farke comments on whether Leeds are close to making any signings
Farke was asked after the game whether Leeds are close to making their first foray into the market, but refused to give a concrete timescale, instead insisting he fully believes in the people working ‘behind the scenes’.
He said: “I have unbelievable confidence of how hard our people, our key people behind the scenes work. So they also are not responsible for the situation, they have to respect also all the contracts, how they are and we’re working from this point, so there’s no complaining about the situation or accusing. Not at all, we just accept the situation.
“My confidence is we have so many good people in this club and so many people who work unbelievably hard for club. Everyone knows that we are in a bit of a tricky situation as a club. But I totally trust our supporters because my feeling is, because I follow this club for many years, when it really counts and the times are really difficult then we stand together as one unity and this feeling I have today only just after a few days.
“I know till the end of August they are tricky times but we need our supporters, especially during this time, even more they need to carry us a little bit and our responsibility is to work unbelievably hard to fulfil our expectations and also our and their ambitions. We’re trying to do this.”
Nick Hammond is currently the man spearheading Leeds’ transfer window having been appointed as the club’s interim football advisor last month until the end of August.
Whites supporters can only hope Hammond has been putting the foundations in place for potential new signings in the last few weeks ahead of San Francisco 49ers Enterprises getting the green light from the EFL.
That said, it is paramount Leeds start strengthening their squad soon with main promotion rivals Southampton and Leicester both making some decent moves.
