Blackburn Rovers boss Jon Dahl Tomasson believes Leeds United will achieve automatic promotion from the Championship to the Premier League – after Leeds beat his Blackburn 2-0 on Saturday.
Leeds came into the game after two wins in a row, while Blackburn suffered a 3-1 loss against Sheffield Wednesday. The Lancashire club have been largely inconsistent this season, drawing only once in 24.
Dan James opened the scoring, continuing his incredible form for Leeds with a neat finish into the far corner. Cree Summerville made it 2-0 in the second half after a gorgeous one-two with Georgie Rutter.
Tomasson spoke to the media after watching his side beaten by Leeds but to be fair, having plenty of the game and chances – perhaps, unlucky not to score. Illan Meslier pulled off a number of top saves.
He told the Lancashire Telegraph on Saturday evening, that he expects Leeds to finish in the top two come the end of the season – even though he thinks his side were the better team in the second half.

“They have a very good squad, a Premier League squad with a lot of good players. We all know how good Leeds are in transition, both came in transition moments. The difference was the clinical things.
“We shouldn’t forget they are very good. I think they will get automatically promoted and they should as well. I thought we were in the game for a long time, we were the better team in the second half,” he said.
Jon Dahl Tomasson says Leeds will achieve automatic promotion
Leeds are certainly showing the kind of form required to gain automatic promotion. Nine wins from 11 games is quite incredible. 28 points, out of a possible 33. Leicester have only managed to secure 25.
Ipswich, have dropped 10 – managing 23 out of 33, still very impressive form. But Leeds’ consistency is going to wear the top two down eventually. It depends whether Daniel Farke’s men can keep this up.
