Aberdeen manager Barry Robson has insisted Leeds United target Luis ‘Duk’ Lopes will be going no where this summer.
Robson was speaking to the Scotsman where he was quick to rubbish speculation from south of the border suggesting four Championship clubs, including Leeds, are ready to make a move.
As per journalist Darren Witcoop, Leeds, Southampton and two other Championship clubs sent scouts to watch Duk in action against Celtic on Sunday.
Those in attendance will have certainly liked what they saw, as Duk provided a constant threat to Celtic’s defence throughout the afternoon, registering an assist for Bojan Miovski’s first half goal.
Duk only made the move to Aberdeen from Benfica just over 12 months ago but his debut campaign has already seen him catch the eye of several clubs.
Robson tells Leeds Duk will be going nowhere
He scored 16 goals and provided six assists in the Scottish Premiership last season, with Robson insisting Duk will be going no where this summer.
He said: “You get one phone call, ‘oh somebody is linked with him’ and then it goes in the press and we all believe it, don’t we? Well, I don’t. I have seen it all before. Duk is Aberdeen’s player, he is a brilliant player, we love him here and he is going to be here.”
Leeds remain in the market for a new striker this summer and Duk is the latest name to be linked as the final two weeks of the window approaches.
Duk’s pace would certainly add something different to Leeds’ frontline, but given his lack of experience and ability to play out wide, it would be important to bring someone else in as well as him.
That said, it appears as though Aberdeen will make it difficult for any potential interested clubs as they fight to try and keep him.
