Phil Hay has told The Square Ball’s podcast that Leeds United would like to sign Charlie Taylor and Daniel Farke would like to have him available in his squad right now – with Junior Firpo missing from the Manchester United loss.
Firpo is widely expected to leave the club this summer. Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport this month, that Leeds are actively trying to find a new club for him. Marseille were linked, but they signed Brazilian defender Renan Lodi.
Galatasaray and Real Betis have also been touted as options. With Firpo going and the ex-Barcelona man struggling anyway, a new left-back is needed. Leo Hjelde and Pascal Struijk are our other options. Struijk is naturally, central.
Hjelde is largely unproven. Taylor has been linked with a return to Leeds, six years after leaving the club for Turf Moor. A link that has been met with a mixed reaction. Hay says Farke would like to have Taylor available right now.
“Yeah, they do like Charlie Taylor, that’s where we do need to push Farke a little bit because Firpo didn’t play in Oslo because he had a bit of a knock. Where is Farke at with him?” Hay said on Friday, to The Square Ball podcast.

Taylor has entered the final 12 months of his £27k-a-week contract, and having been in and out of the Burnley side last season – you would imagine he would be tempted by a return to his boyhood club. Leeds need Taylor, back.
The Whites have arguably, failed to replace him. Gjanni Alioski, Barry Douglas, Laurens De Bock, Firpo and plenty more have tried and failed. Stuart Dallas has been out for almost 18 months. Taylor would be a wonderful addition.
