Leeds United midfielder Glen Kamara played a crucial role in Finland’s 1-0 win at Kazakhstan on Thursday.
Kamara was introduced as a 67th minute substitute for his nation with the score deadlocked at 0-0, until he helped unlock the home side’s defence with a tidy pre-assist.
The 27-year-old is clearly behind the rest of his teammates in terms of match fitness having not been involved at all for Rangers during pre-season, or at the start of the campaign.
In fact, his first minutes of the season came on Saturday as a very late substitute for Leeds against Sheffield Wednesday less than 48 hours after his move from Ibrox.
Leeds spent what felt like the entirety of the summer transfer window chasing Kamara, and this little cameo for Finland shows exactly what he could bring to Elland Road.

In a tight game with limited chances for either side, Kamara played a piercing ball into the feet of Benjamin Kallman in behind the midfield of Kazakhstan.
Kallman was then in enough space to provide a neat through ball to Oliver Antman to finish off and earn a vital three points in their quest to qualify for next summer’s EUROs.
That sort of bravery on the ball to play the risky pass is exactly what Leeds are going to need on numerous occasions this season.
Sides are going to be happy to sit off and wait for Leeds to come up with a moment of quality to break them down and to have a player with the capability to play those passes will be huge.
Once he gets up to full speed, Kamara will be a huge player for Daniel Farke’s side and should offer that extra bit of creativity Leeds need from midfield.
