Leeds United now have a ‘very real possibility’ of completing a deal for Tottenham Hotspur defender Djed Spence.

That is according to Ben Jacobs, who provided an update on the situation on a Twitter space last night, after news of an approach from Leeds earlier in the afternoon.

As per various reports including Jacobs, Leeds have made an offer to sign Spence on a season-long-loan deal from Spurs.

The 23-year-old is not in new manager Ange Postecoglou’s plans but Spurs are struggling to find a permanent buyer, opening up the chance for a loan move.

Leeds are the side to have made the ‘most concrete offer’ as it stands despite interest from other Championship clubs including Bristol City and Swansea.

Daniel Farke appears keen to bolster his full-back options both on the right and left hand side before Friday’s deadline, with now Spence having a real chance of getting done, according to Jacobs.

He said: “As I revealed four days ago, Djed Spence loan was a possibility and that’s partly down to Spurs not being able to find a buyer and so they may have to loan him to the Championship. Leeds are the ones who have made the most concrete offer at this point.

“There are other Championship clubs that have looked, to my knowledge Bristol City have been monitoring the situation so they could still be one to watch and Swansea City have looked as well. Djed Spence to Leeds is one very real possibility.”

Spence would be an absolutely superb signing at this level if he can re-find the form he showed on loan at Nottingham Forest in the 2021/22 season, in which Ian Wright hailed him as ‘unbelievable’.

Right-back has been one of Leeds’ problem positions so far this season but Spence’s pace and attacking quality make him the ideal fit for Farke’s system.
