Leeds United have been linked with a move for Swedish goalkeeper Noel Tornqvist in recent weeks but now the Whites face competition from Italy’s top tier – with Genoa and Sassuolo both interested.
The Sweden U21 star has sparkled for top-tier Swedish side Mjallby this season. Joining the club as a teen back in 2020, he played 34 of his 35 senior outings for the Swedish side during the 2023 season.
Fotbollskanalen say Leeds have scouted him. Daniel Farke currently has Illan Meslier, Karl Darlow and Kris Klaesson as his options between the sticks. But, Klaesson is likely to want to consider a move.
Indeed, he has played once for Leeds since joining – a sub outing against Wolves under Jesse Marsch. It might be 6ft 4in Tornqvist has been identified as a replacement for Klaesson, if he does decide to leave.
Tornqvist himself, has commented on interest from Leeds – stating a move to England is a dream of his. Now, five Italian clubs have joined the race for Tornqvist – two of which are currently playing in Serie A.

Indeed, Genoa and Sassuolo are both keen according to a report from Calcio Mercato. In Serie B, Ethan Ampadu’s old side are keen in the form of Venezia. Bari and Cremonese are also interested in Tornqvist.
It is claimed that a fee required to land the Swedish man will be around £1.75m. But the chances are that he will be on the move in the January transfer window – with Swedish football restarting again in April.
But if Leeds are to make a move, you would imagine that Klaesson would have to move on first. Even then, would leeds spend the best part of £2m on a goalkeeper that will be considered third choice?
