Carlos Corberan’s West Brom secured a comfortable 2-0 away win over Coventry last night, and Grady Diangana continued his return to form – after reports emerged in the summer that Leeds wanted him.

The 25-year-old scored just six goals over the past two seasons in the Championship for West Brom. He has failed to make good on the fee West Brom spent to sign him permanently from West Ham in 2020.

In the summer, Leeds were among the clubs supposedly looking at a move. The Express & Star claimed that Leeds, Leicester, Burnley and some clubs from Saudi Arabia wanted the West Brom man. £7m fee.

Nothing materialised. He remains at The Hawthorns, where he has entered the final two years of his deal. It was left to Diangana to finally show what he could do with the Baggies. He might be starting to.

Grady Diangana continues return to form after Leeds reports

Starting the last four League games, Diangana has had a hand in three goals. An assist against rivals Birmingham has been followed by two goals in two games – the first, in an easy 2-0 home win over QPR.

Then, on Monday night, the first in a 2-0 away win over Coventry – a much more impressive victory for Corberan and the Baggies. Diangana is finally starting to turn potential into quality, in a West Brom shirt.

For a fee of £7m, Diangana might have been a smart signing if the likes of Willy Gnonto or Crysencio Summerville had left Leeds. But they ended up staying, and Jaidon Anthony joined the club on loan.

But it looks like staying put for Diangana might have done the trick, with Corberan and West Brom perhaps the right place for him to finally shine. It could be, that he now goes on a run of belated form.
