Tyler Adams has taken to Twitter for the first time since Leeds United suffered relegation from the Premier League to the Championship – and has apologised to fans, underlining how tough it’s been to watch on from the sidelines.
Adams, 24, is one of a small handful of players to come out of the 2022-23 season with pass marks. Willy Gnonto, Max Wober, Jack Harrison and Adams are probably the only players who have shown consistency and decent form.
But his season, which started superbly for the first half of the campaign – quickly becoming a crucial part of this Leeds side – got even better when he was named USMNT captain for the World Cup in Qatar. He performed well.
However, soon after returning from the World Cup, Adams picked up a hamstring injury in training. The midfielder had to undergo hamstring surgery, keeping him out for the last third of the season. He played just 26 times for us.
It is unclear if Adams will be at Elland Road come the start of the Championship campaign but at he is one of only a couple of players to take to social media since relegation – apologising to fans, sharing how hard it has been for him.

So, will Adams be a part of the side that helps Leeds get back to the Premier League? He clearly has a good bond with the Leeds fans, and he may feel some unfinished business at Elland Road given his season has been cut short.
According to Bola Vip, Adams has a relegation release clause worth £30m. There are interested parties, with 90Min claiming Liverpool, Newcastle, Tottenham and Manchester United keen. Leeds are trying hard to keep the American.
