Daniel Farke has admitted he was unhappy to see Luis Sinisterra leave Leeds United on deadline day.

Farke was speaking in his post-match press conference after Leeds’ frustrating 0-0 draw with Sheffield Wednesday at Elland Road this afternoon.

Leeds had managed to keep Sinisterra right until the end of the window but ended up losing their key man following a late offer from Bournemouth.

Sinisterra made the switch to the south coast on a season-long-loan, with Jaidon Anthony having come the other way to Elland Road.

Sinisterra had just been reintegrated back into the fold at Leeds by Farke after he had been told to train away from the rest of the squad due to a dispute over his contract.

He played in both of Leeds’ matches with Ipswich Town and Salford City last week and Farke admitted he was frustrated to lose him so late, but is happy with the addition of Anthony.

He said: “I am always open and honest. I have praised Luis since I arrived. He can be outstanding and dominant at this level. If I said I was happy he left nobody would believe me. We spoke about his contract being complicated, won’t go into details. Tough reality. Accept he went this way.

“To accept such a tough reality in this moment and adapt to it. Have to praise key people in our club. Can feel sorry for yourself, but no, we found a perfect replacement. With Jaidon Anthony we found the best possible option. Proven in the Champ. Started first games in PL. Brilliant lad. Desperate to be here. Still an age he can improve from.”

In the matches he played for Leeds this season it was evidently clear Sinisterra was too good for this level which makes it all the more frustrating to lose him so late.

To have him back in the fold, to then only lose again is also tough to take for Farke, but given the dispute surrounding his contract Leeds clearly were beginning to feel the pressure.
