‘Total agreement’: 29-year-old to leave Leeds after missing start of pre-season – journalist

Leeds United and AS Roma have now reached a full agreement for Diego Llorente to move back on loan.

That is according to Gianluca Di Marzio, who reports the two clubs have now reached a ‘total agreement’ for Llorente to return on a season-long-loan, with the deal also including an obligation to buy for £4.3 million (€5m) if he plays 50% of the matches.

Llorente was due to report back for the first day of pre-season at Leeds yesterday, but did not return with the rest of the squad with a transfer being imminent.

Robin Koch was another who was not in attendance, with the 26-year-old also on the verge of joining Eintracht Frankfurt on loan.

Brenden Aaronson is also expected out of the exit door this week with a move to Union Berlin close, though he was not due back for another week due to his international exploits with USA.

Leeds reach ‘total agreement’ for Llorente transfer

Llorente has long been touted for a return to Roma this summer but after they opted against paying the initial £18 million permanent clause in his first loan, negotiations have dragged on.

The 29-year-old spent the second half of last season in the Italian capital, making 12 appearances in all competitions as they reached the Europa League final.

Jose Mourinho has been keen to bring Llorente back to his side but not for the previously agreed sum, which has seen the two clubs return to the table.

The newly agreed permanent clause is a significant decrease but ultimately, Leeds’ hand has been weakened somewhat after their relegation.

All Leeds can hope now is Llorente does indeed play in at least 50% of the matches this season so he is off the books permanently in 12 months’ time.
