Daniel Farke was full of praise for the performance of Patrick Bamford in Leeds United’s win over QPR.
As per Phil Hay, Farke was speaking in his post-match press conference after Leeds’ 1-0 victory against the London side, in which Bamford produced an impressive cameo.
In his second back from a hamstring injury, Bamford replaced the quiet Joel Piroe with half an hour to play and looked as sharp as he has done for a while.
Bamford looked extremely dangerous with his runs in behind the defence, while his hold-up play was also key to Leeds seeing a win in a stop-start second half.
It was also his relentless running from Pascal Struijk’s long ball that led to Asmir Begovic’s red card in stoppage time.
Farke pleased by Bamford impact
Speaking after the game on his impressive cameo, Farke says he is delighted to have someone of Bamford’s quality off the bench in this division.
He said: “It’s top drawer to have an option like Patrick there. We’ve missed him while he was away and to be able to bring on a proven goal scorer at this level, was quite crucial.”
Farke is absolutely right, there aren’t many better backup strikers in this division than Bamford with the attributes he can bring from the bench.
The Leeds boss made the right decision bringing off Piroe, who was largely ineffective throughout, in order to provide a different option.
As Bamford continues to build his match fitness, he could begin to start games and once he fires in his first goal, they should start flowing again.
