Titanic Leeds United ace has covered more ground than any other player in the Premier League

Leeds United transitioned into a more workmanlike side from 2024/25, with the Premier League requiring different player profiles for Daniel Farke.

In terms of intensity, effort, and commitment, Leeds United are far superior to what they served up last season. To gain Championship promotion, they needed more technical profiles and those capable of unlocking a game and destabilising compact opposition.

You still need technical players, but the 10 signings highlight that Leeds’ owners, the 49ers, have done their Premier League research. So far, the decision for Leeds to prioritise Premier League physicality has been vindicated as well.

Anton Stach was the most-expensive signing, costing £19.9 million from Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim. He has played every minute so far and The Athletic named Stach Leeds’ best signing well before his spectacular free-kick against Wolves.

Anton Stach has covered the most distance of any Premier League player in 2025/26

Even if the end to the window was a frustration in terms of signing one more creative player, Stach has taken on that creative mantle for Leeds somewhat already.

But, most crucially of all, players like Stach have made Leeds significantly taller than last term. The 6’4″ powerhouse of a midfielder is going to be vital. The German Leeds star is key to their survival hopes.

Stach and Sean Longstaff are Leeds’ current midfielders ahead of Ethan Ampadu as a single-pivot at the base of the 4-3-3 midfield. It has meant Ao Tanaka has been on the bench, despite stealing the show for much of the Championship campaign.

It highlights the changes needed to compete at the bottom of the Premier League, which is why the 26-year-old German has been so impressive out of possession in every game, even if Stach underwhelmed against Fulham.

Stach loves Leeds fans already, but more of the below will mean they love him just as much. He embodies everything required for a relegation battle in the Premier League.

That’s because Stach has covered the most distance of any player in the division so far, according to Gradient Sports on X (formerly Twitter). The 69.15km works out as around 11.53km per 90.

Stach is fired up ahead of Leeds against Spurs tomorrow. His consistency and desire out of possession are without question at this stage, five games in. However, he will have to be at his best against Thomas Frank’s side tomorrow.

Anton Stach, Pascal Struijk, and Joe Rodon are in a very exclusive Premier League club

The caveat with such a stat is that some players may well average more per 90, but they have played fewer minutes. Impressively, Stach is one of the outfield players to have played every Premier League minute so far.

There are 52 players who have not been substituted yet, including Stach, Pascal Struijk, and Joe Rodon from Leeds as the only players to have done so.

14 of the 52 are goalkeepers, meaning that trio are among the 38 outfield players to have done so. That is 540 minutes for each of them, with Gabriel Gudmundsson the next highest on 529.

Will Farke ever substitute Stach? He is a machine and the distance covered reveal remains outstanding, even with it factored in that others will have a higher per 90 average.

Truly, a titanic effort from a player quickly becoming a fan favourite.
