Top of the Championship, unbeaten in 17 games and with promotion looking like an inevitability, Leeds United are in a very good place with three games left before the March international break.
Everywhere you look in this Leeds side, players are in the form of their lives. Jayden Bogle is on fire on the right side of defence, Joe Rodon gets better every week and Junior Firpo has two goals in two games.
In midfield, Ao Tanaka is now one of the first names on the team sheet and considered one of the club’s best-ever buys at just £3.4m. Joe Rothwell is impressing with four assists to his name in a Leeds shirt.
David Prutton claims Dan James is the Championship’s best player at the moment, while Joel Piroe has already scored more goals than he did during 2024-25 and sits joint-first in the league’s goal rankings.
Leeds have three of the Championship’s best-five players
Perhaps not surprising given Leeds are dominating the league at the moment, sitting three ahead of Sheffield United and five in front of Burnley. But according to FotMob, Firpo is the best right now.
A huge rating of 7.56 from his 22 matches, with Firpo having a hand in 11 goals from left-back – he sits at the top of the Championship player rankings in terms of FotMob rating. Japan star Tanaka is in third.
The midfielder has a rating of 7.51, sitting just behind England international James Trafford while captain Ethan Ampadu may be injured but he remains the Championship’s fifth-best with a rating of 7.44

Despite Prutton’s comments on James, the Wales winger is still only the division’s 22nd-best player at the moment. That is despite the former Swansea man having a hand in 14 goals in Leeds’ 17 game run.
Gustavo Hamer only came off the bench against Leeds but Sheffield United’s playmaker is in seventh after Leeds bid £13m for Hamer last summer. Former Leeds star Alex Mowatt is in 10th, starring for West Brom.
