Wilfried Gnonto’s agent Claudio Vigorelli has claimed his client’s situation at Leeds United is currently looking ‘complicated’.

Vigorelli was speaking in an interview with Radio Sportiva where he provided a brief update on Gnonto’s future after the drama of the last couple of weeks.

Gnonto is currently at the centre of a transfer tug of war between Leeds and Everton, with the former adamant he is not for sale, and the latter determined to sign him.

However, the situation has turned ugly in recent weeks with Gnonto making his first major play when he refused to play in Leeds‘ Carabao Cup tie with Shrewsbury Town.

He then also made himself unavailable for the trip to Birmingham City and since then, has been training away from the rest of the first team squad at Leeds.

In another attempt to force his way out, Gnonto then handed in a written transfer request just hours before Leeds’ match with West Bromwich Albion on Friday, as per the Athletic.

Reflecting on the recent events surrounding his client, Vigorelli says the situation is being made ‘complicated’ by Leeds’ refusal to let him leave.

“The situation is complicated. Leeds are blocking the requests we have in the Premier League.”

According to Sky Sports, Everton are said to have had four offers turned down by Leeds for the 19-year-old, the most recent of which totalled £25 million.

Fabrizio Romano says Everton are expected to return with another offer, but given Leeds’ stance throughout the summer, it remains to be seen whether it will be enough to get it done.
