A report from TeamTalk claims that Leeds United are trailing West Brom in the race to sign Orlando City striker Dylan Dike. The USA international sparkled for Barnsley during the 2020-21 season. At Barnsley, Leeds target Dike was compared to new Chelsea signing Romelu Lukaku by a teammate.

Dike, 21, is one of the most-exciting talents currently outside of European football. He was loaned to Championship side Barnsley during the second half of the 2020-21 campaign. The eight-time USA star scored nine goals in 19 Championship games – and his form has seen clubs remain keen.

The report states that Leeds are keen, but West Brom are leading the chase. Tuesday night showed without a Patrick Bamford-like striker – Leeds struggle. That is even with Tyler Roberts and Rodrigo as cover for the ex-Chelsea man. West Brom are on pole, due to new manager Valerian Ismael.

Dike compared to Lukaku as Leeds pursue loan deal

Of course, the Frenchman was in charge at Barnsley last season and brought Dyke to Oakwell. Alex Mowatt has moved from Barnsley to West Brom, too. During his loan, Barnsley star Jordan Williams compared him to Lukaku – saying he can shoot with the same amount of power as Lukaku.

“I think he’s similar to Lukaku, to be fair. Lukaku has got a rocket of a foot and Dike’s not far behind, I don’t think,” Williams told the Yorkshire Post, about Dike. “He hasn’t scored as many goals yet, but he can hit a ball as hard as him, I would say. He’s only 20 years of age. It’s amazing.”
