Leeds United fans will be hoping for a Kalvin Phillips return as the youngster who loves the club would no doubt welcome it.

At a struggling point in his career, Phillips seriously needs a move that can rejuvenate his footballing status.

His failed £42m switch to Manchester City should only be used as motivation to find the next step.

It might be clear that returning back to Yorkshire is the best thing for him, as Phillips is told he would fit at Leeds.

Rumours will continue to circulate, but one thing for sure is Phillips’ continued love for the club, and he would join back in a heartbeat if these five players were still in their prime with the Whites.

Kalvin Phillips’ Leeds United five-a-side team

If Leeds fans had a chance to name a five-a-side team over the last couple of years, Phillips would certainly get into the majority of teams.

In his prime at Elland Road, it was always going to be difficult for the Whites to keep hold of him, but now only Phillips’ wages block a Leeds return.

The 49ers will have a decision to make on whether they want to bring back the midfielder who would get a welcomed return.

Well, judging by Phillips’ picks for a five-a-side team, Leeds fans will certainly applaud his choices.

Mark Beeney as my goalie,” Phillips said.

“I’m gonna throw in Gary Kelly, I’m very friendly with Kelly, I know him quite well and he talks to me quite often.”

“It’s gonna have to be David Batty. He was a great player, fought for everything like I do.”

“I’m gonna go, Aaron Lennon. Going to keep it local and go with a family friend.

Tony Yeboah. I remember the screamers he scored. He’s one of my favourites”

Phillips could follow Batty’s footsteps with Leeds return

With Phillips comparing himself to Batty with his on-field performances, he could emulate Batty in more ways than one.

Phillips and the former Whites midfielder were both defensive midfielders hence why the 29-year-old looks up to the Leeds hero.

But Batty decided to make a return to Leeds after previously coming through the youth ranks like Phillips, showing how he could take inspiration giving Daniel Farke a boost in the deal potentially happening.

Phillips promised he’d join Leeds again, and what better way to do it than following the footsteps of Batty.
