Leeds United have made a poor start to the 2024-25 campaign both on and off the pitch and fans are becoming disgruntled with what they’re seeing, with Leeds winless so far.
Following last season’s play-off final loss to Southampton after clocking up 90 points, Daniel Farke’s side have been billed as favourites to go and win The Championship in the German’s second season as boss.
But failure to beat Portsmouth and only securing a point thanks to Brenden Aaronson’s 95th-minute goal at Elland Road, following by a 3-0 loss to Middlesbrough has left Leeds supporters feeling frustrated.
A point away at West Brom with a clean sheet was a solid result, albeit not good enough in the final third. But it is two points from a possible six, while off the pitch, concern is mounting over a lack of new players.
Whether Farke is worried about pressure mounting over Leeds job
Georginio Rutter’s joined Brighton on Monday with Leeds receiving a fee of £40m, a Championship record for a player sold by a club that were not relegated from the Premier League the season prior.
He joins Crysencio Summerville, Archie Gray and five others in being sold permanently with Leeds yet to make real moves in the transfer window. Fans are becoming annoyed both on and off the pitch at Leeds.
Leeds Live’ reporter Beren Cross was asked on The Square Ball’s podcast if he feels Farke is feeling the pressure or showing any concern over his job security, with 10 days left to run in the transfer window.
“He carries himself really confidently, there’s no arrogance there. He’s very complimentary, if he feels Leeds deserve to be beaten he will congratulate the opponent. The first thing he says,” Cross reported.
“If he is feeling the pressure, it’s not coming across. He has immense confidence in his ability, he’s won the division twice, 90 points last year. He sees that as success, I don’t think he feels he’s under pressure.”

Ultimately, Leeds should have beaten Portsmouth. Leeds could have genuinely scored seven or eight goals against John Mousinho’s side, conceding a long-range strike, a dodgy penalty and one mistake.
Defeat to Middlesbrough came after news that Rutter would depart, leaving the squad stunned. Farke also made eight changes and that affected balance, while a point at West Brom is solid in isolation.
Farke is under pressure, but he should not be feeling it as much as The 49ers. Their approach to the window has been nothing short of abysmal and blame for a slow start should be at their door.
