When Robin Koch left Leeds United on loan in the summer, he pretty much ended his spell at Elland Road and now, the German star has officially completed a permanent move to Eintracht Frankfurt.
Koch, 27, signed a four-year deal at Leeds in the summer of 2020, immediately after Leeds had gained promotion to the Premier League. But in three years after, he played just 77 times for the Whites.
Indeed, the Germany star played most of his games in his final year at Leeds – in which we were then relegated to the Championship. He jumped ship, like many others, using the relegation loan clause.
He moved to Frankfurt where he hoped he would get the game time necessary to break back into Germany’s side ahead of Euro 2024. Certainly, he has been excellent for Frankfurt while only on loan.
He has played 23 games for the German side, having a hand in five goals from the middle of a back three. Injury prevented Koch from getting into the Germany side in the recent international break.

But on Tuesday, he completed a permanent move to Frankfurt. He has signed a four-year deal, which will see Koch officially become a permanent Frankfurt player on July 1 – when his Leeds deal expires.
It sees Leeds take a huge loss on Koch, having spent north of £10m to sign the German. Ultimately, he hardly paid back his transfer fee while in a Leeds shirt, either. But a move that really, needed to happen.
Koch has now taken to Twitter after the news of his move to Frankfurt on a permanent deal, signing a contract until June 2027. He said his time in Leeds was one of the “best” experiences of his life.
