Phil Hay claims on The Athletic’s live transfer blog that Leeds United midfielder Darko Gyabi is the subject of a late loan offer from Swansea City – after rejecting moves to Fleetwood and Valenciennes.
Gyabi, 19, has struggled to make the breakthrough into the Leeds side that was expected of him. Archie Gray has overtaken him, while the club have signed trio Ethan Ampadu, Ilia Gruev and Glen Kamara.
It saw him remain an unused sub on Tuesday night in the penalty-shootout defeat to Salford. Earlier on deadline day, Hay reported that Valenciennes had upped a bid to £5m. Fleetwood wanted him on loan.
But that Gyabi had rejected both moves, and was now set to remain at Elland Road until January. Now, another twist in the tale. Swansea have made a late loan move to sign him. Maybe, much more tempting.

This move makes much more sense. A permanent move to the second-tier of French football? Well, it would leave Leeds with no profit on a player that could make them a huge profit in the next few years.
A loan to Fleetwood? Gyabi is better than a League One club, even if it meant he would be working with one of Scotland’s best-ever midfielders in Scott Brown. A move to Swansea makes a whole lot of sense.
A ball-playing Championship side, likely to be pushing for the top half of the table and potentially, even the play-offs. If Gyabi starts, it would allow him to express himself – and get the best out of his qualities.
