Harry Gray is undoubtedly the best young talent at Leeds right now.

The grandson of Frank Gray, great nephew of Eddie Gray and the brother of Archie Gray is widely expected to follow in his family’s footsteps and become a regular at Elland Road, having made his debut at the age of just 16 last season.

However, Daniel Farke has refrained from giving the 17-year-old his Premier League debut as survival takes priority, although youth football seems too easy for the teenager. He can boast ten goals in just 13 games for the academy so far this term, along with two assists.

Despite that, Leeds fans would actually prefer Harry Gray to stick around rather than leave Elland Road on loan.

Leeds United fans decide they do not want Harry Gray to depart on loan

A poll run by us here on Leeds United News asked fans to share whether they think the England U17 international should be loaned out amid a lack of senior action – but the majority want him to remain in Yorkshire.

A big decision for Leeds United to make… should Harry Gray be sent out on loan?

76% of the voters revealed they want Gray to be kept at Elland Road, with just 12% voting for a loan deal.

The remaining 12% responded that it “depends on the club” – which is fair enough.

It is a surprise to hear that so many Leeds fans want Gray to be kept at Elland Road despite Farke failing to hand him a single second of football so far this season.

As aforesaid, youth football does not seem to be challenging the Leeds No.45 whatsoever, but chances are unlikely to come in the Premier League until survival is secured, leaving him in a difficult spot.

A loan would give Gray the chance to see what regular football at senior level is like ahead of a potential breakthrough campaign at Leeds next season, so it baffles us that the majority of fans are against that.

Leeds United already have Harry Gray interest from the Championship and League One

If Leeds do opt to seek a loan for Gray this winter, a decision still needs to be made on whether he is more suited to Championship football or a stint in League One.

Hull are interested in Gray – and that may appeal to Leeds seeing as Joe Gelhardt is already with the Tigers and could help him settle in.

Daniel Farke thinks he’s the perfect manager for Harry Gray

“I don’t want to sound arrogant, but I gave Harry his debut. If I were to back a manager to be brave enough to play a young player, I’d pick me.”

Derby have also been credited with an interest in giving the teenager a chance in the Championship.

Should Leeds feel the Championship is too early for their precocious talent, Barnsley like Gray and can offer him an opportunity down in League One.

It feels foolish to leave the striker playing youth football for the remainder of the season, so hopefully, Leeds can find a way to test Gray in senior football during the winter transfer window.
