Ethan Ampadu’s new contract until 2030 is a major statement from Leeds United, but a surprise Leeds United player is now in line to earn the next Elland Road contract this summer.
Leeds have made their intentions clear by securing Ampadu’s future until the summer of 2030, with the Wales international viewed as a key figure in the club’s long-term plans.
The most important signing Leeds could have made this summer!
Ampadu signs on until 2030.
The more intriguing development is that according to TeamTalk, Germany international Anton Stach is also among the players Leeds want to build around after a stunning 2025-26 campaign.
This is, despite the fact he still has three years left on the deal he signed after arriving from Hoffenheim. Clubs do not usually revisit contracts this quickly unless a player has made an exceptional impact.
Leeds are not handing out rewards lightly
That is what makes the situation stand out. Leeds have other players, including Ilia Gruev, Brenden Aaronson and Pascal Struijk, who are currently due to see their contracts expire in 2027.

In most cases, those players would be higher up the queue for fresh negotiations. If Leeds are prepared to improve Stach’s terms before addressing other contract situations, it says a lot about Stach’s importance.
The statistical case is difficult to argue with. Stach has delivered five goals and three assists while also registering 63 chances created and nine big chances created.
His contribution without the ball has been just as impressive. The midfielder has recorded 119 ball recoveries, 65 tackles and 155 ground duels won, highlighting his influence at both ends of the pitch.
Anton Stach is one of the Premier League’s best signings
There were questions over how quickly Stach would adapt to English football after joining Leeds, but those concerns have disappeared. He is ranked as the second-best signing in the Premier League.
Anton Stach needs a new deal before it’s too late – discuss…
He's easily doubled his value this season!
That recognition reflects more than a strong run of form. Stach has become a complete midfielder for Leeds, providing creativity, defensive security and a consistency that few new arrivals have matched.
Ampadu’s extension is an important piece of business, but the willingness to reward Stach so soon after his arrival may be the clearest indication yet of Leeds’ thinking.
Players do not earn improved contracts with three years remaining on their deals unless they have significantly exceeded expectations, and Stach has done exactly that.
