Sources close to Leeds United Wilfried Gnonto are now starting to believe he could leave in January.

That is according to TeamTalk, who report Everton, Lazio and Roma are all interested in signing the 19-year-old ahead of the winter window, despite Leeds’ refusal to sell him in the summer.

However, it is also said that Leeds’ potential asking price for Gnonto could again prove to be a stumbling block for interested clubs, with a fee of around £25 million having been touted.

Everton refused to go any higher than £20 million in the summer despite Gnonto’s reported desire to move to Goodison Park and get back playing Premier League football.

Gnonto – hailed as ‘unusual’ by Gary Neville – even went as far as refusing to play and handing in a transfer request in August, though did apologise to Daniel Farke shortly after before being reintegrated back into the side.

As per the same report, there is said to be ‘an expectation from sources’ that Gnonto will move on from Leeds in the not so distant future to return to a top-flight league.

Everton were the clear front-runners for his signature in the summer and according to Sky Sports, saw as many as four offers rejected by Leeds, with San Francisco 49ers Enterprises seeing him as a key player for the promotion push.

However, the Toffees now look set to face competition from Serie A rivals Roma and Lazio, both of whom at this stage, would also be able to offer him European football.

Roma, who signed both Diego Llorente and Rasmus Kristensen on loan from Leeds in the summer, are thought to be unlikely to meet the reported £25 million asking price in January.

It certainly looks as though January will represent another interesting window as far as Leeds are concerned, but surely if promotion is a realistic possibility, no one will be sold.
