Leeds United star Willy Gnonto could leave Elland Road in the January window for a Premier League club, with the Italian struggling to start for the Whites – failing to do so since the loss to Stoke City.
Gnonto, 20, has managed 19 appearances for Leeds in all competitions. Refusing to play against West Brom in the reverse fixture in August, Gnonto also chose not take part vs Birmingham and Shrewsbury.
It has seen him fall out of the starting XI – that, and the form of both Crysencio Summerville and Dan James. The duo have been excellent out wide. There is said to be an internal tug of war over Gnonto.
It is claimed that Leeds and Gnonto could strike an agreement over a new deal, but some are open to his sale. Now, Jones has delivered an update on Give Me Sport – saying something is not right with Gnonto.
“I’m sure they would rather he is on top form and starting games because he should be the best player in the division, not just at Leeds. The fact he isn’t means there’s something not right here,” Jones said.
“It’ll be interesting to see if a Premier League club comes knocking just to see if they might be able to tempt him away. A few weeks ago, that did not sound like it might be the case, but you never know.”

In a Leeds shirt, Gnonto has shown huge signs of promise. Last season, his performance against Aston Villa, his goal against Manchester United, his brace in the FA Cup replay win over Cardiff City, a 5-2 win.
Gnonto is a top, top talent. A player that deserves his Italy caps. But he needs to do more off the bench to show Daniel Farke that he needs a start. Currently, James’ form has dipped in the last few games.
Maybe, against West Brom, Gnonto could come into the starting line-up tonight in place of James and boast the chance to show Farke what he is capable of – against a team he refused to play against prior.
