Ross McCormack was very impressed with the performance of Archie Gray for Leeds United this evening.
McCormack was speaking on BBC Sport during Leeds’ 1-0 win over Queens Park Rangers in which Gray played 90 minutes.
Gray was brought back into the starting XI in one of four changes from Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Southampton, replacing Glen Kamara.
The 17-year-old had been used as a substitute in Leeds’ last two matches as Daniel Farke carefully manages minutes.
In a dominant, but equally unconvincing result, Gray was among Leeds’ stand-out players with some impressive driving runs from midfield, and clever passes.
McCormack impressed with Gray for Leeds
Delivering his verdict on Gray’s performance, McCormack was hugely impressed with his composure in the midfield.
He said: “Archie Gray is so composed. And I think that comes from coming through a footballing family. He doesn’t seem to be fazed by anything. The fans want him to do well here of course.”
Farke’s plan to hand him a rest in recent matches before reintroducing him to the side clearly worked this evening.
Gray looked much more refreshed than during his last start at Hull City two weeks ago, in which he looked increasingly jaded towards the end of the match.
Farke now has a decision to make whether to keep him in the side for Leeds’ clash with Bristol City on Saturday, with such a short turnaround between matches.
