Leeds may sign £5m Rangers star as well as Ethan Ampadu, while keeping Tyler Adams

Graham Smyth has written on the Yorkshire Evening Post’s site that while Leeds United are likely to bring in Ethan Ampadu as the club’s first senior signing, they could also land Rangers man Glen Kamara – and keep Tyler Adams.

Ampadu, 22, returns to Stamford Bridge this summer after four consecutive seasons out on loan – the last two in Italy with Venezia and Spezia. Reports emerged on Monday that Leeds had made an offer to sign the Wales ace.

The Evening Standard say that while Ampadu has interest from the Premier League, Serie A and La Liga – Leeds are the only club to make an offer. Smyth has since said that he is ‘likely’ to be our first senior signing of the summer.

But with Marc Roca leaving, Leeds perhaps need more than one signing in midfield. USA skipper Adams remains in rehab, recovering from a hamstring operation – and Smyth says there is a belief the ex-Leipzig man will stay put.

Smyth: Leeds could land Kamara as well as Ampadu and keep Adams

Not only that, but Leeds could sign Rangers and Finland ace Kamara. Dean Jones said last week that Leeds were rivalling Southampton for Kamara, while the Herald rate him at £5m. An exit from Ibrox is expected this summer.

Smyth has reported that Leeds are expected to buy Ampadu in a permanent deal while the 49ers hope to be able to call on Adams next season. However, he also states that Leeds could make a move for Kamara, as well as Ampadu.

So, it might be that Leeds have three senior midfielders next season in the form of Ampadu, Adams and ex-Arsenal product Kamara – as well as gems Darko Gyabi and Archie Gray. Lew Bate and Jamie Shackleton are also options.
