Sky Sports reporter Tim Thornton has told Give Me Sport that Leeds United will try to sign a left-back on deadline day even after the club saw Leicester City’s Luke Thomas choose to join Sheffield United.
Leeds have solved the lack of options in the middle of the park in the last 24 hours – signing Ilia Gruev from Werder Bremen, and Finland star Glen Kamara from Rangers. Djed Spence is on loan from Spurs.
Leeds look well-set to go into the season good and proper. Sam Greenwood’s move to Middlesbrough on loan leaves Leeds lacking in the 10 role. Sam Byram, Stuart Dallas and Junior Firpo are all injured.
The trio are sidelined and Leeds could also do with a left-back. Leeds were interested in Thomas but he chose to join Sheffield United, saying he chose to join the top-tier side due to Premier League football.
But Sky Sports man Thornton, who covers Leeds and other clubs in the Yorkshire area, says Leeds may make a move to sign a left-back on deadline day. But, with the hours remaining, it is a race against time.
“I think they’ll try and get a left-back in. But I’m not so certain that at this stage, that is one area they will fill, after the Thomas situation. If something develops; maybe. If not, midfield the priority,” Thornton said.

So, if he thinks Leeds could try to sign a left-back then there is a chance. The interest in Thomas shows that Leeds know a left-back is needed. If we can, it would put a cherry on top of a very nice cake.
