Sky Sports pundit tells Leeds players to ‘pull their fingers out’ after summer of ‘ridiculous statements’

David Prutton has told the Leeds United squad to ‘pull their fingers out’ and put the summer of ‘ridiculous statements’ behind them.

The former Leeds midfielder was speaking on the latest Championship Predictions Podcast where he was previewing the Whites’ visit to Millwall.

With a chaotic summer transfer window now firmly behind them, Leeds will be hoping they can really kick start their season into gear starting this weekend.

Leeds have picked up just six points from their opening five matches under Daniel Farke so far, though he has been forced to deal with a number of off the pitch incidents too.

Leeds lost several members of last season’s first team squad in the wake of relegation, eight of which were frustratingly on loan.

The likes of Luis Sinisterra and Tyler Adams threatened legal action against Leeds if they were not able to leave, while Willy Gnonto also handed in a transfer request.

Prutton believes Leeds can now finally put those ‘ridiculous statements’ from the players behind them, telling the squad it is time ‘to pull their fingers out’.

He said: “Having played in it, it is more than tasty,” said Sky Sports EFL host Prutton. “There is a real edge to it. It will be a cracking game as a spectacle.

“But Leeds, all the faffing about with players, all the consignation about who’s there and who’s not, who wants to stay there and who’s moved on, all these ridiculous statements coming out from players that have moved on. Now is the time for the people that have been left to pull their fingers out.

“It’ll be tough, a very tough one against a Millwall side that, as we’ve seen, have got plenty of fight in them in regards to how they’re led by Gary Rowett.”

After navigating a difficult month, the next few weeks should hopefully see some real progress on the pitch under Farke.

Leeds could not have really asked for a more difficult fixture to come back to after the break given their recent record at Millwall, but with the squad now very much settled, it should hopefully make a difference.
