Leeds United suffered a 1-0 defeat to West Brom on Friday night as our poor run of recent form goes on, winning just one of the last five – but Andy Hinchcliffe is clearly a big fan of Ethan Ampadu.
Coming into the match, Leeds had won just one of the last four games – picking up four points from a possible 12. Losses to Sunderland and then Preston on Boxing Day. Now, a third loss in the last five.
Grady Diangana – a player linked with a move to Leeds in the summer – scored the only goal of the game as Carlos Corberan secured a win over his old side. It has seen us fall into fourth, in the Championship.
Now nine points behind Ipswich. Another missed opportunity, with the Tractor Boys drawing at home to QPR, 0-0 at Portman Road. A win for Leeds would have reduced the gap to six points. Now, it’s nine.
There were some good performances – Ethan Ampadu was his usual, consistent self. Speaking while commentating for Sky Sports, Hinchcliffe says Ampadu must play every minute if Leeds are to go up.

“If Leeds are to finish ahead of Ipswich or Leicester in the top two, then he needs to be playing every minute. That’s just how important he is to this side,” Hinchcliffe said, during Sky Sports commentary.

Another frustrating and disappointing display on Friday. Leeds are slowly losing the touch they had for a number of weeks, where they could score goals and defend well. Daniel Farke’s tactics are found out.
Leeds need to come up with another way of scoring goals, getting the best out of Georginio Rutter and Joel Piroe, before it comes too late and this run of form starts to see us drop further down the table.
