Simon Jordan does not see Leeds United, Leicester City or Burnley being successful in their bid to sue Everton for a total of £300m – after Everton were found guilty of breaching Financial Fairplay.
Everton were handed a 10-point deduction last week. It comes after an investigation found that Everton had made a loss of £124.5m last season, £20m more than Premier League clubs are allowed to make.
That is according to a report from The Guardian last week. The report also says Leeds and Burnley had written to the Premier League to investigate, after Everton recorded losses of £371.8m in three years.
Now, a point deduction. Immediately after the decision, one of the biggest in English football history, The Mail said senior Leeds figures had met with those from Burnley and Leicester to discuss a move.
They have concluded that they will press on with their initial warning to Everton, and sue the club for a collective £300m – £100m each. Jordan discusses whether he thinks the trio of clubs will be successful.
“The challenge for Everton now is what to do next. Do they really want this delayed, hanging over them when they might be to take their medicine? Still only two points adrift of safety,” Jordan told The Mail.
“Given the struggles of the promoted clubs, it might be an idea to take this one on the chin as I don’t see Everton going down. I also can’t see those clubs lining up to sue Everton getting very far,” Jordan added.

Leeds will feel aggrieved that on the face of it, Everton have survived by breaking the rules while Leeds have been relegated – within the Profit & Sustainability Rules. But, there are more factors to consider.
Leeds finished 19th last season. So, to sue Everton surely means we would still have been relegated? Perhaps, it comes down to specific results against the Toffees. Leeds were not good enough to stay up.
