Senior Leeds figures attend meeting today, now have plan after Everton points deduction

Senior figures of Leeds United, Burnley and Leicester City have met to discuss if they will pursue legal action and follow through on prior threats against Everton, after they were deducted points.

The Premier League confirmed in a statement on Friday that Everton had been deducted 10 points after a breach of Financial Fairplay rules. The guidelines state that clubs can lose £105million in one season.

The Guardian report that Everton lost £124.5million in the period in question. Leeds and Burnley had written to prospective new owners, 777 Partners, that they may sue in the event of a guilty verdict.

Burnley were relegated in 2021-22, and both Leeds and Leicester last season. Burnley are convinced that Everton’s breach stretched back to the season in which the Clarets were relegated from the top tier.

Now, The Mail state that senior figures from Leicester, Burnley and Leeds have come together today in light of the points deduction – to decide whether the ‘aggrieved trio’ will sue Everton for £300million.

Leeds, Burnley and Leicester believe they are entitled to an even split of £100million each, given they spent time out of the Premier League, missing out on lucrative TV money – and other top-tier benefits.

The trio have decided they will indeed follow through on their initial threats following the guilty decision and points deduction suffered by Everton. It is expected Everton will appeal, delaying any repayment.

But it now looks likely that the points deduction is only the start of it for Everton, with Leeds, Leicester and Burnley set to enter the courts against The Toffees – to reclaim money we feel we’ve missed out on.
