Spanish newspaper AS claim that Napoli star Hirving Lozano is desperate to remain in European football amid shock interest from Leeds United – but could accept an offer from MLS side LA Galaxy if nothing materialises in Europe.
Lozano, 28, has entered the final 12 months of his contract at the Serie A champions. He has been told he has two choices. He can either sit in the stands for a year before leaving on a free, or accept a new deal on a reduced rate.
The Mexico star, then, is looking to leave Napoli – despite featuring 41 times last year, having a hand in eight goals. According to W Deportes, Leeds – along with Stoke and Everton – have held talks with Lozano’s camp. LAFC, too.
MLS champions LAFC were said to have been closing in on the 64-time Mexico star. But the new report from AS says that is not the case, and it is LA Galaxy that have made an offer. But, Lozano only sees the MLS as a last resort.
So, it might come as a bit of a boost that Lozano prefers to remain in Europe. The money is in English football but surely, Lozano will fancy himself in the top tier of England, if he does move. Salary Sport say he earns £97k a week.

Leeds do need new additions in the final month of the window. A right-sided centre-back, a left-back, another central midfielder, a no.10 and possibly a striker. But do Leeds really need another winger? You would argue, no.
On the books remain Jack Harrison, Willy Gnonto, Cree Summerville, Luis Sinisterra, Dan James, Ian Poveda and Helder Costa. Harrison and Gnonto are likely to go, as is outcast Costa. But that leaves four top-quality wingers.
What Leeds do need is a no.10 and at Championship level, Lozano is easily good enough to play as a 10. Perhaps, Lozano could be offered the chance to come to Elland Road on loan. It would be a huge shock to get him, though.
