Sean Longstaff has played a key role and is arguably the best signing of the bunch – although Sam Byram and Brenden Aaronson have now both revealed the Geordie has a feisty side to him.

Sean Longstaff told he has “a bit of bite to him”

The £12m signing from Newcastle has swiftly shown both sides of himself since arriving in Yorkshire, displaying the coolness needed from a central midfielder, but also the aggressiveness.

In a game for the Leeds United channel on YouTube, the players were asked to compare teammates to a range of animals.

When Aaronson and Byram were told to select one similar to a hippo – described as “chill” but “surprisingly fierce” – the latter quickly replied: “Longy.”

Aaronson agreed, saying “yeah Longy, that’s a good one” before Byram added “chill but he’s got a bit of bite to him.”

Leeds fans should be delighted to hear this, as it is exactly what you want from a centre-midfielder.

Sean Longstaff has an underrated level of creativity to his game

The Leeds No.8 certainly does have some “bite” to his game with an impressive three tackles every 90 minutes in the Premier League so far this season, but his intelligence on the ball often goes unnoticed by the majority.

Longstaff has actually created five ‘big’ chances in the Premier League this term, with no player registering more.

The 28-year-old sits level with Adam Wharton, Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah.

So, while Longstaff still possesses the physical attributes needed to impose yourself in midfield, he also has the cuteness in possession to hurt opponents.
