The Mail claims Sam Allardyce has told Leeds United after the club were relegated that the club have got to keep Adam Forshaw this summer – with his contract expiring on June 30. He has a new offer on the table from the club.
However, Leeds are not the only ones after Forshaw’s signature. With Leeds failing to extend his deal before his previous deal ended, he is now a free agent. He was invited back for pre-season training but is yet to be seen.
Phil Hay says there is an offer on the table, but it reflects his injury issues. The Mail state he has an offer from Saudi Arabian side Al-Akhdoud. There is also interest in Forshaw from clubs in the Championship, and overseas in Europe.
Forshaw’s priority remains signing on at Leeds but with less than three weeks until the first game of the season, work needs to be done to the squad. Most notably, in goal, at left-back and in the middle of the park. Forshaw, ideal.
The Mail say, on Forshaw: “Allardyce recommended the club ensured Forshaw was kept on for 2023-24 describing him as a leader who had the character to help them bounce back into the top flight at the first time of asking.”

Weston McKennie has gone, Marc Roca has moved out on loan. Tyler Adams still is likely to go despite some signs beginning to suggest that he could remain. Leeds are lacking midfielders – a midfielder with Forshaw’s experience.
Adams would be the senior member in midfield even after the signing of Ethan Ampadu. Darko Gyabi and Archie Gray also offer cover, while Lew Bate and Jamie Shackleton return from loan spells. Forshaw’s know how is needed.
