Phil Hay has reported in his latest piece with The Athletic that Adam Forshaw has an offer on the table from Leeds United, which reflects his injury issues over the past few seasons – but the midfielder is yet to make a decision.
Forshaw, 31, was arguably our best player towards the end of the season under Sam Allardyce. But, his contract came to an end on June 30. Leeds announced in the retained list that Forshaw had not been offered a new deal.
However, the ex-Middlesbrough man had been invited back to pre-season – similarly, to Joel Robles. Leeds are likely to be lacking in the middle of the park. Weston McKennie has gone. Tyler Adams and Marc Roca could follow him.
Adams has a number of Premier League clubs interested in him, while Roca is likely to go back to Spain, to Real Betis. So, keeping Forshaw is clearly something Leeds want to do. A deal has been offered, reflecting his injuries.
But, Forshaw is yet to make a decision on the deal offered – which could be a pay-as-you-play contract. It remains to be seen when midfielder Forshaw, once touted with an England call-up, will make that decision. Time is ticking.

Forshaw’s form towards the end of the season was proof that he is easily good enough to start for Leeds in the Championship. Marcelo Bielsa was a huge fan, once claiming he is good enough to play in the Champions League.
But the injuries are a concern and Leeds are right to be wary. Keeping Forshaw, simply just to have him in the squad is important. A player that has been at Leeds for a while and knows the ins and outs of the club. A decision needed.
