Illan Meslier was mobbed at full time by his Leeds United teammates after the 1-0 win at Leicester City this evening.
That is according to Sky Sports commentator Gary Weaver, who was speaking live on air immediately after Meslier’s incredible save in stoppage time.
Leeds were defending well against almost everything Leicester had thrown at them until the midway point of added time, restricting the hosts to no shots on target.
That is until Abdul Fatawu finally found Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall with a cross at the back post, who managed to jump ahead of substitute Luke Ayling.
His header appeared destined to be finding the top corner, until Meslier somehow managed to claw it out from almost next to the post to earn Leeds a massive three points.

And clearly his Leeds teammates realised just how crucial that save was to coming away with a win, as both Sky Sports commentators spoke of how they all ran to congratulate the 23-year-old.
Weaver said: “Meslier with a huge save at the end, which is why the Leeds players have rushed to him, because it was going in from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.”
Goodman then added: “When you need your goalkeeper he comes up trumps with a brilliant. It has been a masterclass from Leeds. Been on the front foot. They came up to the lion’s den and took it to the lion.”
Having made an error in the win over Huddersfield Town last week, to come up with a save like that one so late into the game will do wonders for his confidence.
The sign of a top goalkeeper is to be able to pull off a save when they have had nothing to do all game, and that is exactly what Meslier did.
That is undoubtedly the best result of Daniel Farke’s time as manager at Elland Road, and it certainly sends out a statement to the rest of the division.
