Ross McCormack has told BBC Radio Leeds that Leeds United’s strength in depth should give Daniel Farke‘s men confidence that they can finish in the top two places in the Championship table this term.
Last season, there were gaps all over the pitch. Quality at right-back, a Premier League standard left-back, competition for Tyler Adams and Marc Roca and replacements up top with strikers out injured.
This season, that has changed. Even in problem areas – left-back and in the 10 role, Leeds still have options. Sam Byram shining on the left, Joel Piroe and Georginio Rutter interchanging as the no.10.
McCormack believes that the options Leeds have all over the park is a sign that Leeds are well-placed to go and finish in the automatic promotion places. He says it should give Farke and Leeds confidence.
“I’d be very surprised if they didn’t also believe that [they can close the gap on the top two]. They have got a lot of quality, a lot of depth as well. It shows with the arguments we’re having,” McCormack said.
“Whether this player should come out and that player should go in. If you take someone out and bring someone in there is not a huge drop in quality. I think they should be confident that they can do it.”

It is incredible, the strength in depth Leeds now have. We have injuries in the form of Willy Gnonto, Djed Spence, Junior Firpo and more. Players have gone out on loan that might still have a Leeds future.
Sam Greenwood, for example. The likes of Darko Gyabi, Charlie Cresswell and Lew Bate are even failing to get into the matchday squad. Leeds look strong and over a 46-game season, that is really promising.
