Chris Sutton and Robbie Savage have been predicting the Championship title race after Leeds United’s win over Leicester City.
Leicester have led the way pretty much all season but saw their advantage cut to six points after Leeds‘ incredible 3-1 comeback victory over the Foxes at Elland Road on Friday night.
Leeds had been as much as 17 points adrift of Leicester as recently as New Year’s Day, but a run of nine consecutive Championship wins has propelled them up to second place and with first in their sights.
David Prutton last week claimed that any hopes Leeds have of catching Leicester rested on them getting three points at the weekend, and that is certainly what they were able to do.
Speaking on 606, Sutton believes that Leeds will now pip Leicester to top spot come the end of the season, a prediction which left former Foxes midfielder Savage surprised.
Sutton and Savage debate Championship title race
Savage asked: “Chris, do you think Leeds and Leicester are the two who will go up?”
Sutton responded: “It looks that way. I fancy Leeds to win it.”
Surprised, Savage then said: “Do you? To win the title? Wow. Leeds are going to win the Championship?! Woof.”

Daniel Farke has not got too ahead of himself about whether Leeds can catch Leicester but what is for certain, is that it is the closest they have been to them since August.
That said, Leeds’ main focus will undoubtedly remain on ensuring they do enough to finish above both Ipswich Town and Southampton. The former are behind Leeds only on goal difference after a good winning run of their own, with the latter five adrift following three defeats in four.
It is likely to be an incredible race between now and the end of the season between all four clubs, and whether it is in first or second, hopefully Leeds can achieve automatic promotion.
