Leeds United captain Liam Cooper has a ‘lucrative offer’ on the table from Saudi Arabian side Al Qadsiah.

That is according to talkSPORT, who report Cooper is attracting interest from the same club Joel Robles made the move to earlier this summer and is also managed by former Leeds striker Robbie Fowler.

Al Qadsiah are currently in the second tier in Saudi Arabia but moves for the likes of Cooper is just yet more evidence of how they are looking to grow football long-term.

Cooper has one year remaining on his contract at Elland Road and is going into his tenth season at the club, with the 31-year-old again expected to play a major role.

He has started all four of the friendly matches under Daniel Farke and is again set to be the club’s captain, a role in which he has excelled in over the years.

Leeds captain Cooper receives lucrative Saudi offer

Speaking after the win against Nottingham Forest seven days ago, Cooper claimed he told the rest of the Leeds squad in the dressing room after the defeat to Spurs not to return if they were not committed to the club in the Championship.

However, Cooper undoubtedly has a decision to make on his future if this latest report is correct given the eye-watering sums that have been on offer to players this summer.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson was put in a similar position last month, and indeed opted to make the move to Al-Ettifaq.

Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante and Fabinho are just one of many players who have also made the switch to the Middle East in their quest to develop the sport.

In the weeks that followed relegation, Cooper vowed he would ‘never turn his back’ on Leeds, though it remains to be seen whether he will be tempted by what could be on offer.
