Rio Ferdinand has claimed that Manchester United should have considered raiding Leeds United in the summer to bring Jack Harrison to Old Trafford – in order to get the best out of Rasmus Hojlund.
Harrison was one of eight senior Leeds players to leave the club using the relegation loan clause. Along with the likes of Robin Koch, Marc Roca, Max Wober, Diego Llorente and Rasmus Kristensen to leave.
The winger, who has been linked with an England call-up while at Leeds, has since joined Everton on loan. Team Talk say that Everton have a buyout clause in the loan to sign Harrison for a fee of £20m.
The 27-year-old has impressed in an Everton shirt. Starting the last nine of Everton’s Premier League matches, he has had a hand in four goals. Harrison has been key in Everton’s brilliant run of recent form.
Speaking on his FIVE podcast, former Leeds man Ferdinand was discussing Manchester United’s issues and says signing Harrison would have helped get the best out of Hojlund – naming a number of players.

“If Man United had [Michael] Olise, Jack Harrison, [Dwight] McNeil at Everton, Jacob Murphy – any one of those four wingers, I reckon [Hojlund] would have five or six goals by now. Why? They cross the ball.
“All four of those beat the full-back and cross or give me a yard, cross the ball. [Hojlund] needs service. [Jarrod] Bowen. They want to provide. We’ve got wingers who either want to shoot or beat someone.”
Rio Ferdinand says Manchester United needed Jack Harrison
Would Leeds have been willing to do business with Harrison? And indeed, would Harrison have been willing to go to Manchester United – given he has represented both Manchester City, and then Leeds?
What must be said is that Harrison was in Manchester United’s academy for seven years – so he might have considered it, had he not played for City and Leeds. He is attracting praise in the Premier League.
