Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla reports that Roma star Nicolo Zaniolo has missed training on Tuesday as he looks to leave the club before the deadline – with Leeds United supposedly battling Everton and Southampton to get him.

Zaniolo, 23, is on the transfer list at Roma and the Serie A side are keen to sell. However, it has been widely reported that Roma only want a permanent exit, or a loan with an obligation. They only have loan-to-buy bids on the table.

Italian outlet CM reported today that Zaniolo is keen on a move to Leeds. That is despite Leeds, Southampton, Everton and Leipzig all tabling offers of a loan until the summer. And, the option to buy him. Roma want a definite sale today.

Now, taking a leaf out of Anthony Gordon’s book prior to his move to Newcastle, Pedulla reports that Zaniolo has not turned up to training on Tuesday. It comes ahead of a Coppa Italia quarter-final against Cremonese on Wednesday.

Pedulla: Roma star Zaniolo misses training with Leeds battling to get him

Zaniolo is a top talent but Leeds simply do not need to sign him. That is of course, unless Jack Harrison does end up leaving the club. All the signs, as things stand, are that Harrison will stay. Sky Sports say he wants to stay in Yorkshire.

So, with Harrison remaining, Leeds are well-stocked in attack. Along with Harrison, Leeds have Cree Summerville, Willy Gnonto, Rodrigo, Patrick Bamford, Brenden Aaronson, Luis Sinisterra, Sam Greenwood and new signing Georgie Rutter.

Already a player with 11 caps for Italy despite his injury issues, Zaniolo will be a top signing for someone. If, they can get a deal over the line for the Roma ace. But, as things stand, it looks unlikely that he will be heading to Elland Road.
