Report: Why top manager targets are being put off joining Leeds this summer

The uncertainty surrounding Leeds United’s ownership situation is ‘unlikely’ to tempt either Graham Potter or Brendan Rodgers into joining the club this summer.

That is according to the Guardian, who report both are indeed of interest to Leeds’ executives and feature on a shortlist alongside West Bromwich Albion’s Carlos Corberan and FC Lorient’s Regis Le Bris.

With no director of football in place, Angus Kinnear is currently the man tasked with leading Leeds’ managerial hunt and informed Sam Allardyce on Thursday he would not be offered a fresh deal.

Leeds are yet to deliver clarity on the ownership picture at the club, with Andrea Radrizzani seemingly having reaffirmed his commitment to the club in a statement on Wednesday.

However, after he attempted to use Elland Road as collateral in a bid to secure a bank loan in his pursuit of Sampdoria, his position as chairman is now untenable.

San Francisco 49ers Enterprises remain keen on a full buyout and are in talks over a fresh agreement following relegation.

Leeds need to get their act together

While it’s nice to see Leeds being ambitious in who they target to replace Allardyce it’ll all be for nothing unless they clarify what’s going on at the top.

If Potter and Rodgers are genuinely interested in the project at Elland Road then it will be devastating if they don’t come because Radrizzani is playing hard ball.

When you consider Leicester City are likely to be shopping in a similar managerial market, and Southampton are on the verge of appointing Russell Martin, time simply cannot be wasted.

We are already almost a week on from the season ending and there is yet to be any movement in terms of players, a new manager or director of football.

Instead it has all been about Radrizzani and his pursuit of Sampdoria and it’s about time the attention is focused elsewhere.
