Report: West Ham make decision on Moyes future, could impact Leeds pursuit of 50-year-old

West Ham United are set to keep David Moyes as their manager which could open the door for Leeds United to appoint Brendan Rodgers.

That is according to BBC Sport, who report Moyes is set to stay on after guiding the Hammers to Europa Conference League glory last week.

Moyes’ future had been in doubt on a number of occasions over the course of last season, including before the final where it was claimed he would be dismissed if they were beaten by Fiorentina in Prague.

Rodgers was said to be among a list of four targets West Ham would pursue if Moyes was to leave the club, however that does not appear to be the case.

With no Premier League jobs likely to be available this summer, that could hand Leeds a major boost in their pursuit of Rodgers, who is among their main targets.

Leeds handed boost in Rodgers pursuit

Rodgers is reportedly now among Leeds’ final three candidates alongside Carlos Corberan and Daniel Farke, with hopes of an appointment this week.

There does, however, remain doubt as to whether Leeds can persuade Rodgers to drop down a division, though West Ham’s Moyes decision certainly helps.

Leeds’ only other real competition for the former Leicester City boss comes from Celtic, who are in the market for a new manager after Ange Postecoglou made the move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Rodgers has already won it all as manager of Celtic having lifted back-to-back trebles during his time at the club between 2016 and 2019.

Based on that, and given the circumstances surrounding his departure, surely Leeds are a more attractive option, with the opportunity to seal an immediate return to the Premier League.
