The Telegraph claim Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou could be considered as a replacement for Antonio Conte at Tottenham amid reports that Leeds United also looked at a move for the Australian, when replacing Jesse Marsch.

Postecoglou, 57, is starring north of the border for Celtic. Winning the Premiership title, and the League Cup in his first season – the season after Rangers won the League without defeat – he is guiding Celtic to a second title in a row.

He secured his third trophy as Celtic manager with a 2-1 win over Rangers at Hampden in February, the League Cup. His style of play – rendered “beautiful” by Owen Hargreaves – has seen Celtic win a whopping 74 out of his 100 games.

The Daily Record reported prior to the appointment of Javi Gracia that Leeds were considering Postecoglou – as they felt his sides had a likeness to Marcelo Bielsa’s way of playing. Ally McCoist said he would drive him to Elland Road.

Conte finds himself under huge pressure at Tottenham. It comes after being knocked out of the FA Cup, and then the Champions League, in the space of a week. The Telegraph report that the Aussie could be the man to replace Conte.

For Tottenham to replace Conte with Postecoglou would be a bold move. Spurs will want more of a high-profile boss in place, to appease fans. But there is no doubt that his style of football is what the Spurs fanbase would like at their club.

Leeds did not manage to convince the Aussie to move to Elland Road from Leeds. But, in the summer, the Celtic boss may be more tempted with a move, after two years in Glasgow. A move to Spurs may appeal now, if Spurs sack Conte.
