BBC Sport report that Swansea City have had a bid accepted by Blackpool for striker Jerry Yates on Monday, as a replacement for Leeds and Leicester target Joel Piroe – with the Dutchman likely to leave the Championship side.

Yates, 26, has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Blackpool and Swansea have moved to bring Yates to Wales. It comes after Yates scored 15 goals in 43 games for Blackpool last season, in a side that really struggled.

It comes after Phil Hay reported Leeds are looking at Swansea’s ex-PSV striker Piroe. The Dutch striker scored an impressive 41 goals in his first two seasons with the Welsh club. The Daily Mail say he is rated at a fee of £12million.

Leeds obviously need a striker with Rodrigo likely to go. The Mail even say Patrick Bamford could decide to depart, after a barrage of abuse on social media from Leeds fans last season. Georginio Rutter is to be used a wide option.

So, Piroe has been targeted. Now, Swansea have decided to move quickly in a bid to bring in a replacement and it seems they have gone for Blackpool’s Yates. With Yates now on board, it may see them decide to cash in on Piroe.

Piroe would be a wonderful addition at Elland Road. LeedsUnited.News spoke to Planet Swans about a move for Piroe – and they say he would be a “natural fit” for the club, if he was to swap North Wales, for a move to Yorkshire.

So, it is good news that Swansea are clearly planning for his exit by bringing Blackpool goal getter Yates to the club. Whether Leeds are willing to splash £12m on Piroe remains to be seen. There might need to be some price haggling.
