Tottenham Hotspur have joined Manchester United in holding talks with the agents of Leeds United defender Robin Koch.
That is according to 90min.com, who report on top of Spurs and Man United, Brentford, Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United have also held ‘exploratory talks’.
Koch is also attracting the interest of teams from Germany and is one of many set to depart Leeds this summer after relegation to the Championship.
The 26-year-old has just 12 months left to run on his contract at Elland Road and there have been contrasting reports as to how much Leeds may get for him.
According to reports in Germany, Koch has a clause which allows him to leave for free after relegation, though that has been disputed by the media in England.
Additionally, Athletic writer Phil Hay has claimed people close to Koch have told him that a loan deal could be on the cards.
Spurs hold Koch talks
Spurs are set to be in the market for centre backs this summer with Clement Lenglet having returned to parent club Barcelona and Davinson Sanchez also set to leave.
Ange Postecoglou will also listen to offers for Eric Dier and exits for all three of those would leave them desperately short in that area.
Koch played 36 of Leeds’ 38 Premier League matches last season as part of a defence with the worst record in the division, having conceded 78 goals.
A move away certainly feels as if it would be the best outcome for all parties, with Leeds already possessing a ready-made replacement in Charlie Cresswell.
Given the vast reported interest in Koch’s services, Leeds cannot afford to let him move on loan and is simply someone they must get a fee for.
