Report says Marsch would ‘jump’ at the chance to take vacant job after Leeds exit

Yahoo say Jesse Marsch would ‘jump at the chance’ to take over from Gregg Berhalter as manager of the United States, after he was sacked as Leeds United manager on Monday afternoon – after defeat to Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

Marsch, 49, has lost his job after just two wins in the Premier League since August – only four League wins all season. It has left Leeds in 17th place, with Everton below the Whites on goal difference. Leeds have decided to make a change.

Plenty of replacements have been linked with Leeds already. Carlos Corberan is said to be the front runner for the role, as he continues to shine at West Brom. Other potential replacements included Steven Gerrard and Ange Postecoglou.

But what next for Marsch? Well, the USMNT role is up for grabs. Gregg Berhalter has left his post as boss of the USA despite impressing at the World Cup, reaching the knockout stages. They lost 3-1 to The Netherlands in the last 16.

Marsch has spoken in the past about wanting to manage his country. The USA side obviously includes three Leeds players, in the form of Weston McKennie, Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson. Yahoo say he would jump at the chance.

It is probably the ideal role for Marsch. He needs to get back on track after a very disappointing stint as Leipzig boss, and then a good start at Leeds which has ended in failure. Marsch needs a job that can see him get his mojo back.

Managing his country will have been a dream for him – as it is for any manager, taking control of their country. So, a move to hire USMNT – which is available currently – makes sense. Whether the US want Marsch, is another question.
