Report says club are still blocking their 47-year-old Leeds manager target from leaving

French outlet RMC Sport claim Lorient are still blocking Regis Le Bris from leaving the Ligue 1 club this summer despite Le Bris’ desire to leave – amid reports that Nice are very interested in hiring him, and early links with Leeds.

Le Bris, 47, was handed his first role as a manager last summer when he was given the Lorient reigns. He starred in his role. Having worked for Lorient for 11 years, his first role as a manager could not have gone better, finishing 10th.

An impressive achievement for Lorient, given they finished in 16th the season prior – losing their top scorer in Terem Moffi, who joined Nice. The Sun said at the beginning of the summer that Le Bris was under consideration at Leeds.

But Nice are the front runners, having parted company with ex-Middlesbrough midfielder Didier Digard. They are keen to raid Lorient again for Le Bris – and Le Bris, by all parts, is keen to go. Lorient rejected his transfer request.

Of course, Le Bris is no longer under consideration at Leeds – with the three front runners currently being Daniel Farke, Scott Parker and Patrick Vieira. Two with two promotions on their CV, the other a Premier League legend.

Le Bris is neither. But, he has got huge potential as a manager – given what was only his first season as a boss last term. Lorient’s stubbornness in trying to keep Le Bris in the dugout is maybe, why Leeds fail to act on initial interest.

So, Le Bris would have been a decent appointment but given the difficulty in trying to persuade Lorient into letting him go, Leeds have clearly gone after other options. Even opting not to hire West Brom’s Carlos Corberan, either.
